RESIDENTS of a Clover Court, Horsham house escaped unharmed after a fire destroyed part of the property on Sunday morning.
Horsham Police Sergeant Eddie Malpas said police and Country Fire Authority crews attended the scene at about 12.50am.
“Occupants were able to self evacuate prior to emergency crews attending the scene,” he said.
“The fire started in a lounge area and caused significant damage to that space.
“The cause is unknown at the moment, but the fire has been deemed not suspicious.”
Sergeant Malpas said, although the cause of the fire was unknown, it was a timely reminder for people to be safe around fires.
“People need to make sure that they are looking after their heaters and wood fires this time of the year,” he said.
