The 90-year-old said she loved living in her one bedroom unit after moving from a larger house in town.
“I’ve been a widow for 20 years and I have three children,” she said.
“My children were keen on me moving here, it was their idea. I wasn’t getting on well where I was living. It was a two bedroom unit and I couldn’t garden like I used to due to health reasons.
“This house is a lot smaller to maintain.”
She said there were many things she loved about where she lived now.
“I love my unit, I love the gardens and I like the people,” she said. “It’s really nice, everyone is very friendly. We have different things on each day.”
Since moving to her unit, Mrs Sheridan said she had got used to a new type of lifestyle.
Life is what you make of it.

“I found the transition really easy,” she said.
“It’s comforting to know that the manager is here if I ever need help. I still feel like I’m living independently.
“I never hesitated about moving here, when I first got here I thankful that I had moved because it is lovely.”
She said she would recommend independent living options to others.
“I like people and I think life is what you make of it,” she said.
“It’s great to join in and there are plenty of things to do. We have little get-togethers and people come out the woodwork for them.
“Sometimes it will be the first time you’ve spoken to someone other than saying hello, so you get to make a lot of new friends.
“It’s nice to know that you can just pop in to someone else’s unit for a cup of tea and a chat.”
