The Katter's Australian Party senator has been widely criticised after calling for immigration policies favouring "European Christian" values and banning Muslims.

"Absolutely one thousand per cent," Mr Katter said when asked if he backed Senator Anning on Wednesday.

"I support everything he said ... it was a magnificent speech."

Mr Anning's address drew bi-partisan criticism in parliament including from One Nation Senator Pauline Hanson, Labor opposition leader Bill Shorten and Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Senator Hanson disowned Mr Anning - who was elected to the Senate on her One Nation ticket - saying his speech was "straight from the Goebbels' handbook from Nazi Germany".

Mr Katter said Ms Hanson was "abandoning the territory that made her infamous or famous".

One of the most controversial comments of Mr Anning's speech was his call for a "final solution" to immigration.

That comment and its association with Nazi Germany's extermination of Jews angered senior Turnbull government minister Josh Frydenberg.

Mr Frydenberg, whose parents were Jewish immigrants, has demanded Senator Anning immediately retract his "ignorant and insensitive" remarks.

Mr Anning has refused to apologise and says his speech has been misinterpreted.

Mr Katter said he genuinely believed Mr Anning had no idea of the historical context of the term.

"He had absolutely no idea ... where do we stand on the issue of migration from the Middle East and North Africa? Well, it's very clear where we stand and we are differentiated from every other party now, including One Nation," Mr Katter said.

"Are we racist? We're Australians. I don't know if that's racist or not. I'm not apologising to anyone for it."

Mr Katter also hit out at what he called the "lily pad left" for their response to the speech.

"Lily pads are green and look pretty and they starve everything underneath them," he said.
