A total of 34 white suffolk lambs from RK & LJ Koop, of Gymbowen, were sold at $270 each to Wagstff Abbatoirs, of Cranbourne.
Driscoll McIllree & Dickinson auctioneer Brock Quick said it was a solid sale with quality lambs hard to find.
“It broke the previous record of $262 from about a month ago,” he said.
“Records have been broken across the country, with higher records being broken at Ballarat and Bendigo. Then in NSW at places like Wagga Wagga, they have gone over the $300 mark which is incredible.
“So this isn’t a huge record, but it’s definitely significant for the region.”
He said the market had been positive for the last few months.
“Naturally when new supply comes, the market will generally ease off,” he said.
“It really all depends on the rainfall that we get in the spring as to how good the lambs will be.
“It’s really a guessing game at the moment.”
