The international junior motocross championships is set to start on Friday and will run until Sunday night at the Horsham Motorcycle Club.
The championships will feature some of the world’s best up-and-coming motocross sensations.
Club president Kenny Watts said volunteers have finished the final touches of preparation on the track and infrastructure.
“We’ve had to do a lot of trenches,” he said.
Mr Watts said the club brought in a media room, which is a portable classroom, for the event.
“At the end of each race the riders will need to go up into there and talk to the media,” he said.
Mr Watts said he wanted this event to put Horsham on the map for international events.
Mr Watts said he estimated the club has spent more than $500,000 to host the championships.
“If demand allows us we will be running mini busses from even Horsham to the venue to get people out there,” he said.
Mr Watts said he was excited to show the world what the Horsham Motorcycle Club has to offer.
“This has been a big taking on for the executive of the club. It’s taken a lot of responsibility to get over the line and once it is all done I think we will all need to sneak away and have a weekend in the Grampians,” he said. “Our volunteers have done a lot and everyone is grateful for it.”
