It was announced last year that the college would start accepting overseas students from 2019.
Head of campus John Goldsmith said he was looking forward to welcoming the first international student.
“He is a young man from Scotland who will be studying an Advanced Diploma of Agribusiness,” he said.
“He has been working on a farm in Australia and heard about the college through word-of-mouth.”
Mr Goldsmith said accepting international students was an important step forward for the college.
“This is part of our growth and development at the college; the world is becoming a smaller place so this is a logical step for us,” he said.
“The next thing we’re doing is a website upgrade to develop specific pages for international students.”
The college has contracted five agents in Melbourne and Sydney to work on its behalf to recruit international students.
“There have been quite a few other inquires from overseas students; there is one in Canada who is particularly keen,” he said.
“We haven’t had any inquires from Asian countries yet, but that is something we’re working on.”
He said the school’s recent Open Day on August 12 had been a great success.
“We had the highest number of applications on the day for almost a decade,” he said.
“The numbers are looking really great for next year.”
