Leading Senior Constable Neil Zippel said the owner had parked the car by the banks of the Wimmera River.
“The owner said he left the car on the riverbank and locked it,” he said.
“He went up the river to go fishing about one kilometre from where he left the car. He was gone for about an hour and when he came back, it was gone.
“Police are seeking the public’s assistance to help find the vehicle. It can be described as a 1998 burgundy Ford Maverick with new number plates reading 1AZ 1CZ.”
He said people with information could contact either Dimboola Police on 5389 1470 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
