Parkrun is a free, weekly timed five kilometre walk, jog or run, where participants collect a time each weekend but only compete against themselves.
The parkrun track starts at Sawyer Park, travels over the Anzac Centenary Footbridge and under the main bridge. The run starts at 8am.
Event director Andrew Sostheim said the event was open to people of all ages and all abilities.
All people need to do is register online before they start.
“It doesn't matter how fast you go, it doesn't matter what your wearing only that your taking part,” he said.
Mr Sostheim said months of planning had gone into getting the parkrun started in Horsham.
“We’re not really sure how many people will turn up but we are thinking 200 to 300 people on Saturday,” he said.
Hillross Horsham and the Rotary Club of Horsham East will host a free breakfast for the launch of the Wimmera River parkrun.
Mr Sostheim said people could register at www.parkrun.com.au/register/.
The event is listed as Wimmera River parkrun, Horsham.
