A Walk in the Park is a two-kilometre event that will start at Weir Park.
Horsham’s Vivien McRoberts was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease several years ago. She said the event was extremely important for her and others with the disease, which affects the central nervous system.
“It’s important because nothing much is known about it, nothing much at all,” she said.
Mrs McRoberts’ husband John said he thought neurologists knew just as much about Parkinson’s disease as the people who were diagnosed with it.
Mrs McRoberts said she always had a tremor due to Parkinson’s, but that it changed depending on the situation. “The day really means a lot to all of us because we come together as a community, go for a walk and have something to eat,” Mrs McRoberts said.
The walk starts at 11am.
Registration costs $5, with all money raised going to Parkinson’s research.
Registrations can be made at parkinsonswalk.org.au.
