The Saints beat the Southern Roos in somewhat of an upset at Dock Lake Reserve on Sunday.
The Southern Roos have had the better of the Saints in recent memory, but the Saints started off the better of the two sides.
Edenhope-Apsley quickly worked its way into the lead and never trailed during the contest.
The Saints were up 15-6 after the first quarter as the Southern Roos shooters found it hard going.
Krystal Schapel led the way for the Saints in attack and finished the day with 38 goals.
Harrow-Balmoral had a better second quarter, and were within five goals at half-time, but the Saints re-found their groove in the third term.
The Saints kept the Southern Roos to just four goals in the third term and had opened up a 41-24 lead going into the last quarter.
The win was never in doubt as Edenhope-Apsley claimed a memorable 49-36 win to advance to a preliminary final.
Saints coach Monica van Dyk said she could not remember the last time the Saints had beaten Harrow-Balmoral.
“For us it is a bit of a grudge match and I think they have always had that mental edge over us,” she said.
“We started off really well. There were some small drops in intensity at some points but we were pretty good for most of the day.”
van Dyk said her players all had confidence in each other.
“When we have confidence and put the pressure on defensively across the court, that’s when we step up,” she said.
“It’s really hard to pick who were our best on but Krystal Schapel and Sarah Domaschenz both shot beautifully. Our defence rebounded beautifully and did everything they could.”
