Most of us would have at least one or maybe even a few.
But let me tell you about one of my best friends who is the complete opposite - so easy to interact with that I talk to him about everything.
We met in 1997, and since the first introduction, we hit it off like best friends.
I was surprised by his friendliness and eagerness to get to know me.
All He wanted was to hang out, do things together, walk and talk.
As our friendship grew, I discovered things about him that I never knew before and he learned about me.
He helped me in hard times, encouraged me and often comforted me.
We connect with each other every day.
Twenty years on, our friendship is still strong and I experience true love and deep strength from knowing him.
I’m so glad he is in my life.
Do you wish you had a friend like that?
From a young age, I grew up influenced by a Christian family, surrounded by godly values, knowing of God but not knowing him personally.
Deep inside me I was longing for a God I could talk to, feel close to, or experience in real way.
Then I met my friend Holy Spirit.
I discovered he wasn’t just a power or force, but a person.
When I was asking questions, he would guide me to truth.
When I would doubt my value, he would remind me of my true identity as a child of God.
When I felt lonely, he would comfort me.
You see God showed his love for us not just by sending Jesus on the cross to die and take the punishment for our sins, but he also showed his great love for us by not leaving us without his personal presence - the helper, teacher, guide and advocate, Holy Spirit.
Can I encourage you to get to know the person of the Holy Spirit, as his job description is to be your best friend?
