The group applied for two funding applications from Freemasons Foundation Victoria on behalf of Wimmera Health Care Group.
Freemasons Wimmera Lodge secretary John McTaggart said the group was thrilled to be successful in both applications, totalling $150,000.
“We lodged one application for $50,000 and another one for $100,000 to go towards the Wimmera Cancer Centre,” he said.
“It was an honour to announce that we will be donating $150,000 towards the cancer centre.”
The initial conversations around supporting the Wimmera Cancer Centre started in 2016 when John McRoberts was the lodge master.
“Cancer affects everybody and John really saw a need for this project,” Mr McTaggart said.
“He was the liaison between the lodge and the Wimmera Health Care Group Board of Management.
“Our organisation has a rich history investing in communities and it’s nice to be able to support our local community.
“It’s such a great opportunity to be able to assist in providing a facility that will service not only Horsham but the entire district.”
