The Australian Good Meat paddock to plate story roadshow was an immersive 360-degree virtual reality video that informs consumers of the Australian beef production story.
St Brigid’s College students put on a VR headset and experienced the beef production process – from the cattle farm, transportation, feedlot, processing facility and the end markets such as restaurants.
The Horsham Agricultural Society organised the virtual classroom experience for the student. Society secretary Andrea Cross said the Good Meat team engaged with students for 20 minute sessions where they had experience the experience of herding cattle in helicopters to patting the cattle.
St Brigid’s College student Rory Doran said the virtual experience opened her eyes to beef production in Australia. She said the VR headset guided her through how beef went from the paddock to the plate.
“They showed us how the cattle were treated and how they are hung and the whole process,” she said.
Meat and Livestock Australia’s community programs communications manager Fiona Young said the unique experience showcased the dedication and passion of Australian beef producers.
“This experience puts students and consumers at the centre of the production journey, as well as, showcasing our dedicated and passionate Australian beef producers,” she said.
