The first quarter had rain and hail pour down on the court, which caused players to adapt to difficult conditions.
Kalkee co-coach Rebecca Hudson said there were unforced errors in the first quarter, which the team fought hard to correct. Hudson said the first quarter, however, was where they set themselves up.
“It was hard with wet feet, slippery balls, which meant a lot of unforced errors, but whatever we threw away we got back – we steadied and used the ball,” she said.
“Our defence turnovers in that first quarter really set us up. We converted and used out patience in the goal ring.”

The Kees lead continually grew over the remaining quarters.
“Everyone in the court did their job. We went out hard and got that lead and were able to stretch it out,” she said.
The Kees’ goal keeper Amy Templeton was named best on court.
