The final margin of 42 points was not as big as it could have been, given how many opportunities the Burras failed to capitalise on. They kicked 9.16 for the afternoon.
Burras had much of the play in the first half of the quarter, but struggled to convert their chances to goal.
But finally they were able to bag a major after some clever crumbing work and a successful snap near the goal square.
The Giants then got on a run with forward-50 entries towards the end of the quarter, eventually getting their first goal on the board.
By quarter-time it was the Burras up 11 to 7 on the scoreboard, but the Giants with the momentum.
The Burras again struggled to make the most of their chances in the second quarter, adding a run of six points before a goal about halfway through the quarter to take a 14-point lead.
A set shot at goal at the 15-minute mark gave them a chance to push further ahead, but it felt short of the distance and was rushed over for a behind.
The Giants had a chance at the other end with a mark inside 50. But a chip kick to get the ball further towards goal went straight to a Burras player, and they went end to end for their third major of the afternoon.
They went into the main break leading 31 to 8.
The first few minutes of the third were a fight, but it was the Burras who broke through with a snap 15 metres out from goal.
The Giants got one back, but another to the Burras near the end of the quarter pushed the margin back out again and put the Giants on the ropes.
At the final change Minyip-Murtoa was well in control, up 44-20.
The momentum started to swing in the Giants’ favour in the fourth, when Matt Bellinger dobbed a major from long range.
But the Burras replied swiftly to get the lead back to four goals.
They then struck again with multiple majors to sew up their grand final spot.
