In a committal mention on Thursday, Lorraine Nicholson's barrister Sam Norton told the Ballarat Magistrates Court his client wanted to look at data from the vehicle's airbag device.
He said there was a broader issue of what was happening with the vehicle at the time.
"There are aspects of that we want to look at; the way in which the vehicle was moving," Mr Norton said.
Nicholson is charged with four counts of dangerous driving and four counts of culpable driving causing death over the May 5 tragedy in Navarre.
Mr Norton said Nicholson should not be committed to stand trial on the culpable driving causing death charges.
Elaine Middleton, Margaret Ely, Dianne Barr and Claudia Jackson, aged 64 to 75, were returning home from line dancing when a Jeep allegedly T-boned their Kia at Navarre, in Victoria's west.
Nicholson is accused of failing to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Stawell-Avoca Road and Ararat-St Arnaud Road and driving 89 km/h in an 80 zone.
All four women in the Kia died of internal injuries, while Nicholson suffered non life-threatening injuries.
As part of her bail conditions set on May 18, Nicholson was banned from driving and handed her driver's licence to police.
But on Thursday this condition was removed from her bail, without opposition from the Crown prosecutor, and she will now be allowed to drive.
The case will now proceed to a two-hour contested committal hearing in January where two prosecution witnesses will give evidence, including a collision reconstructionist and the police informant.
Nicholson, who was supported in court by her husband, was remanded on bail to reappear in January.
Her bail conditions include to live at a stable address, not to contact prosecution witnesses, not to attend international points of departure and to surrender her passport.
