A Twilight Day will be introduced next year for the first time, which will be held on the first day of the event.
Manager Murray Wilson said decision to introduce a Twilight Day was made following consultation with exhibitors.
“After doing extensive surveys with our exhibitors, looking at what we could implement for new ideas for next year’s event, one of the things that had overwhelming support was the introduction of the Twilight Day,” he said.
”We recently had a committee meeting to discuss the idea and we have decided to go ahead with the plan to trial it in 2019.
“There was an overwhelming majority of exhibitors in support of this concept, about 70 per cent in favour.”

The field days will remain open to the public through to 7pm on the Tuesday, with free entry from 3pm that afternoon.
“It’s basically giving everyone in the region the best possible chance to attend. As one of the biggest events in the region, we want to give everyone the chance to come along,” he said.
“There’s a lot of reasons why people can’t come during the day for a mid-week event such as this. We feel like this will be really well accepted by the community.”
Mr Wilson said the committee would host a series of special events and attractions to support the new format.
“We’re going to have some key special features happening in the evening as well, and some attractions,” he said.
“There’s going to be a lot of stuff on to make it an enjoyable time at the Wimmera Machinery Field Days for everyone.
“Our aim is to give everyone in the region, and beyond, the best possible chance to attend the event and experience all that the Field Days has to offer.”
He said field days had an important place in the Wimmera community.
“What the event has done since 1963 is promote field agriculture in the region; it’s our main industry in the region and so important,” he said.
“It’s also one of the biggest social gatherings for the people who live here.”
The Wimmera Machinery Field Days will be held at the Wimmera Events Centre on March 5, 6 and 7, 2019.
