The Edenhope Community Hub Project has received a significant financial boost, with the announcement that council has been successful in obtaining $600,000 in funding through the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.

The project involves removing the existing and ageing Edenhope Mechanics Hall, and replacing it with a new multi-purpose building with a contemporary community space, the library collection, space for reading, meetings, workshops, school holiday activities as well as a function area.
This project, including the relocation of the library, has been a project on council’s agenda for a number of years, and we are excited that it is now proceeding in such a positive manner.
Councillor Richard Hicks attended the funding announcement event in Melbourne, and took the opportunity to speak with Minister Marlene Kairouz MP following her speech, to thank her for the support.
We recently hosted a VicRoads Municipal Liaison visit to the Shire, led by VicRoads Regional Director Mr Mal Kersting.
This is an important annual meeting, where we have the opportunity to meet face-to-face and have a conversation raising road issues in our region.
I was joined at this meeting by council’s CEO Mr David Leahy, our Director of Infrastructure Development and Works Mr Mark Marziale, Angela Daraxoglou, Acting Regional Transport Planning Manager – Grampians at Transport Victoria, and several VicRoads personnel.
Last week I attended an event in Melbourne with my colleague Councillor Trevor Domaschenz, as part of our ongoing lobbying for West Wimmera Shire and its residents.
The Victorian Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change and Minister for Suburban Development – the Hon Lily D’Ambrosio – was interviewed by Sally Warhaft, a Melbourne based broadcaster, anthropologist and writer.
Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions of the Minister on the night, by submitting them in advance of the event.
The Victorian Local Government Association (VLGA) hosted the event, as part of their 2018 State Election Series, and both Trevor and I found it to be a very worthwhile evening.
