Kathleen Chenoweth, 26, appeared at Horsham Magistrates’ Court on Monday and represented herself.
The court heard that Ms Chenoweth’s former partner took her to Rural Northwest Health in Warracknabeal on January 14 for mental health treatment.
She allegedly became aggressive towards hospital staff to the point where staff were forced to lock the hospital doors and call the police.
Ms Chenoweth was seen on CCTV kicking the cement wall of the building, causing damage.
Police later arrested Ms Chenoweth at 4.15pm. Under the Mental Health Act, she was taken to Wimmera Base Hospital in Horsham.
Police interviewed Ms Chenoweth the following day where she made full submissions to the incident.
Speaking to the court, Ms Chenoweth said she was remorseful of her actions.
“I feel awful about what happened (and) I am seeking treatment on a regular basis,” she said.
Magistrate Mark Stratmann said Ms Chenoweth had previous court appearances scheduled for May, July and August but had failed to appear.
“Your behaviour was so severe that people felt they needed to protect themselves from you,” he said.
“However, you are a person who has never appeared before court and has no prior criminal history.”
Ms Chenoweth was put on a good behaviour bond with the conditions that she pay restitution of $350 to repair the damage she caused and continue to seek therapy.
She will next appear in court on January 11, 2019.
