The festival was created from the Small Towns Transformations initiative over the past two years.
Big Sky Festival director Ben Gosling said the festival marks the start of a new chapter for Rainbow. He said the new Oasis precinct underwent recent refurbishments to allow live performances.
“We excited to host a great line-up of musicians for our first festival including This Way North, Mick Coates and The Allnitelongers, Ally and the Cats and Brodie and The Oxy Clinic,” he said.
Mr Gosling is also one half of the brother duo, The Lazy Farmer’s Sons. He will perform with his brother Andy.
The Big Sky Festival will also include a market stalls, food, art displays and a range of afternoon music. There will be focused workshops to develop skills in loop pedals, song writing and live sound.
Mr Gosling said the free event is on the corner of King and Bow Streets in Rainbow.
He urged festival-goers are urged to bring cash because an ATM will not be available at the event.
