The second consecutive Burning of the Canes is celebration of the year that has passed and the year ahead.
Barangaroo Boutique Wines owner Shelia McClure said the event marks the completion of pruning and welcomes the bud bursts in the vineyard.
She said the canes were collected when they pruned the vines and were ready for a ceremonial burn.
“There is a ceremonial burn where everyone writes what they want to get rid of from the past year and what they want in their lives and then we burn the paper with the canes,” she said.
“We light up the cane pile, cheers to everything and watch the fire burn the cane and paper away.”
After the burn, Mrs McClure said there is a big feasting table ready for people to enjoy.
She said the Burning of the Canes celebration was successful last year and has received the same response.
