Over the first weekend of the school holidays Empire Youth Horsham, the youth ministry of Harvest Church Horsham, ran a youth camp at Norval camp site in Halls Gap. There were more than 70 teenagers attending the camp who came from all over the region and from all kinds of backgrounds. Some had been friends since birth and others might not have known anyone. But, by the end of the weekend there was no doubt that there had been many new friendships made. The camp was full of fantastic sessions and activities. The students heard from the Youth Alive (Australia’s largest youth organisation) South Australian director Pastor Sam Long, and a range of topics was discussed such as belonging and being who they were created to be. The key thought was that they weren’t a crowd of religious people. Rather it was that this was a community of people in relationship with Jesus and in relationship with one another. The students loved the whole weekend – from the sessions with Pastor Sam, to the bushwalks and team-building actives and games. And of course, the Halls Gap ice cream stop after the bushwalk. Empire Youth runs a weekly Friday night program during the school term which will kick off again next Friday. If anyone would like more information they are more than welcome to get in touch simply by calling the Harvest Church office or following us on social media. For details, phone 5382 0906.
