Volunteers were recognised on the night for their dedication and service to ensuring the association can continue to provide its much-valued service.
Reg and Marlene Bloomfield were recognised for 10 years of service to the association, while Anita Hobbs and Terry Pollock were recognised for three years of volunteering with the RDA in Horsham.
The centre had a great year, and was able to hold a three-day workshop in Horsham with special presenters.
Members from Horsham also attended the RDAA National Coaches Workshop to continue the development of the Horsham centre.
President Alsion Silcock said plans were underway to improve fencing at the centre’s paddocks on Riverside Road.
“Plans for fencing improvements and shelters will hopefully be achieved within the next six months,” she said.
Silcock said the centre could not function without their horses.
The centre owns three of their own with others bringing their own horses.
“RDA is not possible without our beautiful horses,” she said.
“We continue to source suitable horses for our programs, with many tried along the way, which takes a lot of effort and time by coaches.
“We have also been fortunate this year to receive the help through the HERO program, to re-train a standardbred into riding, which hopefully we will reap benefits from next year.”
