Although there was rain in the morning, the weather cleared to make way for the sun and play went ahead.
However, some games did have to be called off due to the early morning rain.
Six teams will compete in section one open this season, with Haven Black the reigning premiers from last season.
In the opening round, Natimuk started its season off with a win against Haven Green.
Natimuk won by four sets to two against last season’s grand finalists.
Central Park White also claimed an opening-day win, defeating Horsham Lawn by four sets to two.
Central Park Blue could not match those efforts, and fell to Haven Black by four sets to two.
In the section one girls competition, Horsham Lawn will be defending the title after defeating Natimuk Blue in last season’s grand final. Lawn had a bye in the opening round.
Central Park White had a big opening day win.
The side won all six sets to defeat Haven Purple comfortably and gain some confidence in the opening stages of the season.
It was a great opening day for the Central Park teams, with Central Park Blue defeating Natimuk.
It was a closer contest, with Central Park Blue winning four sets to Natimuk’s two.
Natimuk won 23 games to Central Park Blue’s 32 games.
The game between Natimuk Blue and Haven Pink could not go ahead due to being washed out.
