The Adventist Development and Relief Agency – ADRA – runs a door-knock appeal in October.
Horsham-based ADRA representative John Ladlow said the group would call for collections in Horsham and Nhill, and would also run street collections in Horsham.
The first street collection is on Saturday, with another the following Sunday.
“The door-knock initiative has been around since I was a kid, and the street collection for about seven or eight years,” Mr Ladlow said.
“Traditionally in previous years we’ve raised $4000 to $5000 from the street collections.
“Some goes to Australian projects and some to overseas projects.
“The organisation is targeting Nepal this year and South Pacific nations.
“ADRA’s focus in Australia this year is on homelessness. We’ve also just had an appeal recently for farmers in drought.
“Occasionally we see some ADRA money come back to our region, such as during the bushfires years ago.”
Mr Ladlow said the group needed volunteers to help with the street collections between 9am and 5pm.
He said people could call him on 0468 903 224 if they could help.
The street collections will be at the Wilson and Firebrace streets intersection, and the intersection of Baillie and McPherson streets.
Mr Ladlow said people could ask for tax receipts for their donations.
