Cheney is out of contract and still awaiting news on whether he will be at the club next season.
Cheney is 30 next year and made his AFL debut for Melbourne against North Melbourne in round one, 2009. He moved to Hawthorn for the 2011 season and then to Adelaide prior to the 2015 season.
He has had a tough run with injuries in the past two seasons.
Groin and knee injuries prevented the defender from playing a game in 2017, in a year where Adelaide made the grand final but lost to Richmond.
Cheney returned to the senior fold in round 13 this season, 638 days after his last senior game.
He finished the season positively with eight games for the Crows.
He also played six South Australian National Football League games.
Adelaide made a list announcement on Monday, cutting Matthew Signorello.
Cheney and rookie-listed ruckman Paul Hunter remain unsigned by the club.
