The VNL is one of the best leagues in the state, and Fox said she was excited to play at a high standard of netball.
“It was a bit of a shock when we got the call from the coach asking me to sign,” Fox said. “The VNL is such a good standard, I’m so excited for it.”
Fox said signing together with Caris was an added bonus, with the two very familiar with each other’s games from their time spent playing for the Saints.
“It’s really good having Maggie there as well,” Fox said. “She’s going to be more of a goalkeeper at Melbourne Uni, so unfortunately we won’t be in goals together, but it’s still really great to have her with me in the side.”
Fox said she expects to play for the Horsham Saints next season as well.
Fox, Caris and Ella Rees also made it through to the second stage of selection for the Victorian state netball 17 and under team, getting named in the 25-person squad last Wednesday.
The girls now face two more weeks of trials before the squad is cut down to 12 players to represent Victoria at national championships.
Fox said it is exciting to be part of the selection process, and is hopeful of making the state team.
