Highlighting the senior competition was the rematch between winter season B men grand finalists Anklebreakers and Zombies.
The Zombies jumped out of the blocks with a great display of shooting in the first half to lead 20-7.
Anklebreakers tightened their defence after the break, locking the undermanned Zombies to a low seven points, however they didn’t covert enough turnover opportunities and the Zombies held on to take an eight-point win.
Jon Fitzgerald led all scorers, accounting for over half his team’s points with 17.
The senior women’s competition hosted some lopsided affairs with the Troopers and Saints dominating again for a second week.
The Kees and The A Team had a great night out with both teams showing great spirit in this match. Jenna Bywaters was the standout scorer with a 16-point haul for the Kees.
Junior matches were again exciting this week with many results being decided by less than three points along with a couple of draws.
Congratulations to the hardworking volunteer junior coordinators who have done an excellent job to get the right balance for these sides. So far, it’s looking like not too many changes will be required at all.
The senior girls comp is promising to be a fun summer for all involved with the association welcoming a number of players new to basketball.
Reports from the floor have been resoundingly positive with these new players being made to feel extremely welcome by the coaches and their team mates.
