Sixteen-year-old Katianna and four of her friends made a horror film as part of their year 10 English course.
I watched in dismay as the 17-page script spat out of my printer.
I knew then that we were in for a terrifying 24 hours, and that my pantry was probably going to struggle with the onslaught of five creative, late-night, hungry morning, deadline-chasing teenagers.
Mexican for dinner worked well, and the girls had no need to use the leftover salsa as fake blood because they had supplied their own – slightly distressing.
However, it took the writers/actors/directors a while to get into their ghastly content. They nearly exhausted themselves laughing for the first hour, shooting shocking scenes in rooms all over the house.
I ventured to offer the filmmakers some fresh rockmelon for an early supper, trying to impress them with our healthy eating habits.
This facade soon crumbled as I broke out the sweet factory-baked biscuits for a late supper.
Then I chose to look the other way while a couple of bags of corn chips mysteriously disappeared sometime around midnight.
In the morning, the gaggle of teens staggered out from a large nest of mattresses and make-up.
They enjoyed some homemade waffles with maple syrup, chocolate, cream and fresh berries in the bright and cheerful kitchen, before descending into dreadfulness again with dead bodies strewn around the cinema floor.
When the breakfast dishes were finally cleared away and filming finished, I alarmingly came face to face with a lengthy editing process and, with it, the need for another meal.
My ingenuity surfaced as in panic I pulled together a crazy smorgasbord, with nibbles that just seemed to hit the spot.
Delving deep into the back of the snack drawer, I found forgotten cheese twists and paired them with left over salsa and some dip that the teens had miraculously missed eating with the corn chips the night before.
A whole pineapple was soon in pieces and half a block of cheese made itself useful on wafers.
I found some lovely natural almonds, cherry tomatoes and half a jar of stuffed olives.
Hola lunch! Not too appalling, fearful, repulsive or hideously horrible.
