The side fell short against Mount Gambier in Warrnambool 26-12.
“Our defensive line was perfect and exactly what I asked for. It was really fantastic and the attack was good too,” he said. “We made some stupid mistakes but that happens. We took it right up to them and the boys were pretty happy with their performance.”
Gascoyne said despite the loss, his side was remaining positive and “putting their heart and soul on the line”.
“I’m pretty happy with the performance and it wasn’t a thrashing,” Gascoyne said.
The Panthers take on Naracoorte at Naracoorte on Saturday before playing their second home game of the season on November 24.
