Dimboola Rowing Club captain, Jenni Brand, said the sunny weather and some hard-work from the committee contributed to a fantastic spectacle for the area.
“It was really a fantastic weekend, we couldn’t have asked for better weather,” Brand said.
“Everything ran absolutely brilliantly. The committee have it all pretty well worked out, and it just went great.
“We got so many positive remarks out of the weekend. The beautiful day with our beautiful scenery, people just loved it.”
Several teams from the area put in great performances across both days.
Competitors from Horsham City Rowing Club came away with an impressive win in the women’s Masters Division One Quad Scull, finishing 4.79 seconds in front of second placed Hamilton.
Athletes from the club also took out a win in the in the women’s D Grade Pair Scull, and the women’s D Grade Eight on Saturday, and backed it up with another victory in the female open eight’s on Sunday.
“It was good to see Horsham City get a couple of wins under their belt as well, they had a really good weekend,” Brand said.
For the Dimboola Rowing Club, a team of young girls won their race in the D Grade Double Scull, and the same girls just missed out in the under 15 Double Scull, just 1.8 seconds behind the first placed team from Essendon.

“It was fairly strong competition for the girls,” Brand said. “But they put in a great effort and did really well.”
It was a great turnout for the weekend, with 260 athletes competing on the Saturday and 206 on the Sunday.
Brand said she’s hoping the great numbers will help keep rowing as a key part of the community, and see an increase in participation from people in the area.
“We’ve had a bit of growing interest out of the weekend among local people,” Brand said.
“There could be a few more people coming into the club and a few returning people after this event, so that’s great.”
