Ladder-leading St Michael’s will host Drung South after the Saints won last season’s pennant title.
The two sides have experienced differing starts to the new campaign.
St Michael's has continued where they left off, and has enjoyed an undefeated season so far.
The side dispatched the in form Horsham Lawn by 10 sets to four on Saturday, and is looking faultless in its bid for yet another pennant title.
Drung South has had a tougher start to the season, but has found confidence with three wins in a row after two losses.
The side, along with Kalkee and Horsham Lawn, has a 3-2 win-loss record heading into round six.
Drung South is coming off a 11 sets to three win against a struggling Haven side and will be hoping that kind of tennis is put on show again on Saturday.
Drung South’s new pennant captain Dylan Emmerson said he was expecting some tough battles across both the singles and doubles sets.
The two sides opened the season against each other, a match St Michael’s won by 11 sets to three.
“There should be tough battles for both the women and men, and that’s always what you want – there’s always good tennis when it’s close,” Emmerson said.
Emmerson expects to take the number one male spot and tackle young St Michael’s gun Steffi McDonald.
The two players played out a thrilling singles set in round one, a set McDonald won 8-7.
“I think I’ll probably take Steffi and it’s tough playing against her,” Emmerson said.
“She plays just as good as any of the guys in the competition, that’s for sure.”
Drung South has found some good form in recent weeks, searching for a fourth consecutive win.
“I’ve been enjoying watching Ben Argent – he has been sort of our star player carrying us through most weeks,” Emmerson said.
“Janelle Knight is back in form too and improving each week. It’s definitely better having her in the team.”
With a number of consistent and experienced players, Emmerson said it was tough to focus on one player in particular from St Michael’s.
“Peter Hayes is another challenge for sure – especially in the doubles he is so sharp at the net,” Emmerson said.
There should be close contests across the whole pennant competition on Saturday.
Horsham Lawn, sitting in second, plays Kalkee, who is in fourth.
In round one, Lawn defeated Kalkee nine sets to five, with this contest shaping up to be a competitive one.
Lawn was outclassed by St Michael’s at the weekend 10 sets to four and will be hoping for a win to stay within touching distance of the Saints at the top of the table.
In the other contest, bottom teams Haven and Telangatuk East will meet at Telangatuk East.
Haven has dropped off from last year with a new-look team and has registered just the one win so far.
Newcomers Telangatuk East has also struggled with the step-up in quality and has yet to breakthrough for a win so far this season.
When the two sides met in round one, Haven won by 10 sets to four.
