A 38-year-old Queensland woman slipped on loose rocks while walking in the Silverband Falls area of the Grampians at about 5.10pm on Tuesday evening.
She seriously injured her ankle, requiring SES assistance to make it out.
“The woman was on her way back to her vehicle after doing some rock climbing before falling and injuring her ankle,” Stawell SES deputy controller Brody Stewart said.
“It took a bit of time to pin point her location but we were able to track her down and carry her out to an ambulance.”
Mr Stewart said the incident was an “unfortunate accident”, with the woman well prepared and equipped.
“They had water, warm clothing, proper footwear and all the right gear, it was just an accident,” he said.
“Accidents happen every now and again but the fact they had all the right gear made things much easier.
“It is a reminder that as we approach summer people need to make sure they do the right things if they are out in the Grampians.”
