BULOKE Shire Council has elected Cr Carolyn Stewart as its new Mayor.

The council voted in Cr Stewart at a Statuary Meeting held at Wycheproof on Wednesday night.
Cr Daryl Warren was returned as Deputy Mayor and was the sole nominee. Former Mayor David Pollard did not re-contest for the mayoral role.
Council’s chief executive Anthony Judd wanted to congratulate Cr Stewart on her appointment.
“I’m really looking forward to working Carolyn; we have a busy 12 months ahead. David decided not to re-contest as he was very busy with his work outside of council. He was able to achieve so much during the last 12 months,” he said.
Cr Stewart was elected top the council in 2016. This will be her first term as Mayor.
She said she was looking forward to continuing to work with her fellow councillors to achieve the best results for the community.
“We all value each other’s views and work really well collectively together to get the best outcomes. We do community engagement really well, so that’s something I really want to continue to grow,” she said.
“I also want to used my strength of relationship building to work with the state and federal governments.”
Cr Stewart said she had a number of big plans for the shire.
“I’m looking forward to implementing the community plans that we have integrated in the Buloke 2030 plan and help advocate for funding for projects. Those plans will really provide a future direction fro our council moving into the future,” she said.
