The man, 36, is a shearing contractor who was visiting the region for work.
Kaniva’s Senior Constable Adrian Hoggett said police intercepted the man after he was caught driving in the wrong lane. He said the man was taken to the Kaniva Police Station for an alcohol breath test.
The man blew a blood alcohol reading of .105 – twice the legal limit.
“He was caught coming through Kaniva. He was weaving over the road and was driving in the wrong lane,” he said.
Senior Constable Hoggett said the man was a first time offender. He said the man has had his license suspended for 10 months and faced a $600 fine.
