Chasing 247 on day two, Rup-Minyip were able to settle in with the bat and reach their total with five wickets to spare. Captain Travis Hair was pleased by the batting performance after a patchy start to the season.
“It was a good win, we’ve been lacking a few wins early in the season, so to chase down a pretty reasonable score and get the win was great,” Hair said.
Hair was essential to the run chase, guiding his team to victory and finishing 70 not out.
Adam Carter made 54, while several others made a decent start with the bat but couldn’t go much further, falling in the 20s and 30s. Hair said that was the only negative out of the performance.
“The only disappointing thing was that a few of those guys didn’t go on with it, and that took a bit of shine off the win,” he said.
“But all in all, it was a really good performance and we batted well.”
The two-day match suited Hair and his side, who weren’t overly concerned with run-rate after a decent bowling display.
“With a full day we had a bit more time to bat ourselves in which really helped,” Hair said. “Rather than having to throw the bat late in the game you could actually get your eye in then go on with it later.”

“We’ve been a little short at times this year – everyone’s capable of making runs, we just haven’t put it all together yet,” he said.
“Our kids are bowling really well and their doing their part, it’s just up to a few of the older blokes to chip in and post some runs.”
Jung Tigers also put in an excellent performance with the bat, chasing down Horsham Saints first innings total of 343 with just two wickets to spare.
On a favourable pitch for batting, a consistent effort was key for the Tigers, with five of the top six notching half-centuries.
Getting contribution from every player in the top order has been an issue for the Tigers this season, but this match bucked the trend.
Angus Adams top scored with 66 including eight fours and a six. Adams’ batting performance caps off a great match from the all-rounder, taking a wicket and two catches in the sides first innings.
West Wimmera Warriors meanwhile couldn’t get close to Homers first innings total of 375, making just 103 in reply. Brodie Cramer fought hard for the Warriors making 39, while Jason Kanner did the most damage with the ball, taking four wickets from just five overs for Homers.
