As the year comes to a close, what stands out the most in your memory?
Some of us may have logged up some joyous occasions - marriages, births, significant birthdays, new beginnings, while some may be on the other end of the spectrum of significant experiences in their life, loss of job, broken relationships, illness, loss of loved ones.
Then still others have experienced a mixture of both.
Where are you among the mix of life’s highs and lows?
I’m facing a new phase in my life - ‘Retirement’, a new home, a sea change after 20 years in northern and western Victoria, after 28 years of Ministry my ‘new’ life will look very different.
I have loved my life in Ministry and just like my life, there have been many highs and lows, but no matter the circumstances God has sent just the right people into my life and they have blessed me more than they will ever know. As a Christian I have always been assured of God’s amazing love.
I think Horsham is a great town with wonderful people, so I will be taking with me a lot of happy memories.
In my heart wherever I am, I know my Ministry can carry on, just in a different format; retirement doesn’t mean you stop your walk with God.
At the beginning of this Advent Season we are waiting with anticipation for Christmas Day when we celebrate the birth of God’s amazing gift of love, Jesus Christ, who came to be the Saviour of the whole world.
I am reminded that in the new year our lives will continue to go through many changes, some welcomed others not, but remember, God remains the same as He was yesterday, today and tomorrow.
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
I pray you will know the peace of Christ in the year ahead.
