Nhill had three narrow rink wins, with a 13-shot win on the fourth rink by Zac Stephan, Barry Schultz, Roger Brown and Graeme Lynch adding nicely to the margin.
In Division 2 all games were in the Horsham area and also were unable to be finished.
Division 3 was different as games in Kaniva and Nhill were finished, and along with a forfeit by Edenhope 2 to Coughlin Park 3, more than half the games in that Division were completed.
Andrew Witmitz, Stewart Sanders, Paul Pearson and Margaret Sanders(s) won 31-9 in a 53-shot win by Kaniva 2 over Coughlin Park 4. Brian McDonald and Bruce Meyer also had good wins for the Kaniva side.
Dimboola 2 won by eight shots over Nhill 3. A 28-14 win by Margaret Argall, Gordon Miller, Max Walker and Robert Clark(s) played a big part in the win.
At the Christmas break with four rounds to go, the Division 1 ladder is headed by Horsham City 1, narrowly ahead of Coughlin Park 1. Sunnyside 1 is a game behind, with a one-game break over Dimboola 1. Nhill 1 is currently in fifth spot, ready to pounce if the sides above them falter.
The Division 2 ladder sees Natimuk and Sunnyside 2 in a fight for top spot with a game’s gap back to Coughlin Park 2. Goroke and Nhill 2 look like the probable contenders for fourth spot.
In Division 3 Horsham Golf 2, Coughlin Park 3 and Dimboola 2 are only separated by seven points and battling for the top two spots. The next four spots are taken by Nhill 4, Sunnyside 4, Kaniva 2 and Nhill 3 who are all in the hunt for fourth, with a chance of climbing higher.
In Midweek Pennant Sunnyside 1 has skipped away to a big lead in first spot. Nothing separates Dimboola, Horsham City 1 and Kaniva in the run for second spot. Nhill is lurking in fifth hoping for a chance to climb into the final four.
The Midweek Division 2 ladder sees Horsham City 2 and Serviceton locking in the top two spots, but the order can still change. Sunnyside 2 and Natimuk look set to claim the other two places with Goroke as the danger side.
This weekend at Natimuk the Men’s State Fours will be contested on Saturday. Weekend Pennant will resume on January 12, with Midweek Pennant restarting two days later.
