The two Warnambool teams came away big winners from day one with victories over the Horsham Cricket Association and the Wimmera-Mallee Association teams.
Colac Black also won in a thrilling contest against Portland, with Portland falling three runs short on 146 in the run chase after the full 45 overs.
Under-17s country week also got underway, with the Wimmera-Mallee team falling to Warnambool in a closer encounter on day one.
Warnambool looked to be cruising chasing Wimmera-Mallee’s first innings total of 101 with their openers combining for 77 runs.
A series of quick wickets livened the game up but Warnambool were ultimately able to chase down the total.
More to come later in the week.
