The change of date is the second one in the region in the last 12 months, with the first one reported by the Ararat Advertiser in April 2018.
The previous report stated that the new expected completion date was January-March 2019, and was due to the installation being switched from fibre to the node to fibre to the curb technology.
A press release at the time stated that the change would bring faster internet speeds to users.
Properties on the outer edges of Ararat and Stawell can currently access NBN service.
nbn local manager Russell Kelly said that the roll-out across the Wimmera region was “well advanced.”
“Construction is underway to connect about 9100 homes and businesses in Edenhope and Ararat to the nbn broadband access network,” he said.
“Edenhope residents can begin ordering a service from the beginning of 2019, with parts of Ararat being able to connect between April and June 2019.
“Construction is underway to connect an additional 2300 homes and businesses in parts of Stawell to the nbn broadband access network.
“It is expected they will be able to order an nbn powered plan from a phone or internet provider from around May 2019.”
Mr Kelly said that the change in the projected dates was normal.
“There is always a range of dates given. In this case it's the first quarter of 2019 – some parts of the region are able to connect,” he said.
“This is a normal part of the roll-out process – and is occurring in Ararat as it has in some other areas.”
Mr Russell recommended checking individual addresses on the website for specific information regarding your address.
“We will continue attending events in the Wimmera region to ensure residents and businesses are aware of what they need to do to connect, and what choices they have when switching over,” he said.
“As more homes and businesses in the Wimmera region start switching to an nbn powered plan, the nbn local team will continue working with local stakeholders to ensure any local problems are identified early and addressed.
“The rollout of the nbn broadband access network is one the biggest transformations to Australia’s telecommunications industry to ever occur – it represents significant change for consumers and businesses as they make the move to the new network.”
