The organisation is seeking Gariwerd (Grampians) traditional owners interested in guiding visitors on overnight walks on the Grampians Peaks Trail.
More than 80 per cent of Victoria’s rock art sites are located in the Grampians region, making it one of the most culturally rich places in Australia.
“We’re on the lookout for Gariwerd Traditional Owners who are passionate about caring for Country and sharing culture, enjoy interacting with people, love being in the outdoors and who are a team player,” Parks Victoria district manager Gavan Mathieson said.

Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation acting chief executive Denis Rose said the initiative is a very positive one.
“This initiative is one that we’ve been working to put in place for a while - creating jobs on Country for our mob so they can share our culture with visitors to Gariwerd and help to manage Country at the same time. It’s a fantastic career opportunity,” he said.
The Barengi Gadjin Land Council Aboriginal Corporation and Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation are also on board with the move.
The role commences from March and will guide visitors from September.
The first section of the Grampians Peaks Trail now complete, offering a 36 kilometre, three day and two night circuit walk departing from Halls Gap.
When completed, a 160km, 13-day journey will be able to be experienced.
There will be a variety of experiences on offer including hikes for day walkers, opportunities for school groups, the long distance walk for independent walkers as well as a number of fully facilitated walks opening the trail up to people with a range of hiking abilities.
