The Horsham Lady Hornets escaped with victory against the Colac Kookas on Saturday night, before securing second place on the ladder with a big win on Sunday.

In the final round of the season, the Kookas had a lot to play for on Saturday. Colac needed to win against the Lady Hornets to push themselves into the top four and into a finals spot.
They pushed the Lady Hornets for the whole match, and the Lady Hornets trailed by two points with five and a half minutes left to play.
Ema Iredell scored from the foul line before Georgia Hiscock came up big with a three-pointer to give Horsham a two point advantage.
Maggie Iredell scored again but a three pointer from the Kookas cut the Lady Hornets lead to just one point with four and a half minutes left.
From there, the Lady Hornets played stifling defence. The Kookas were unable to score for the rest of the contest, as Maggie and Ema Iredell combined for the final six points of the match, giving the Lady Hornets a 64-57 victory.
Ema Iredell top scored for the side with 21 points while Faith McKenzie had a 18.
The Lady Hornets then secured second position on the ladder with a percentage boosting 109-68 win against Warnambool on Sunday.
The 51 point victory was the Lady Hornets largest of the season and 109 was easily their largest score of the season. Their previous best was 90 points.
In a high-scoring encounter, Ema Iredell scored a season-high 46 points in an incredible performance. Caitlin Story also scored her season-high with 22 points.
The demolition was a good sign for the Lady Hornets as they embark on their finals campaign next weekend.

Meanwhile the Horsham Hornets secured the minor premiership with two dominant wins to finish their regular season.
The Hornets were too good on Saturday night with a convincing 86-59 win against Colac.
It was an even performance from the Hornets with the usual suspects – Jermiah McKenzie and Tim Pickert – top scoring with 17 points each.
Matt Lloyd continued his good run of form with a season-high 16 points, while Mitch Martin also chipped in with 13 in his first game for the Hornets since early December.
On Sunday, the Hornets wrapped their season up with a 102-59 victory against Warnambool.
Ben Lakin got his chance to shine in the big win, scoring a season-high 21 points.
The Hornets finish above closest rivals Mount Gambier just on percentage. Both sides would see the other as the biggest roadblock to a Country Basketball League championship this season.
