Uber is a ride-sharing service that is considered an alternative transport option to taxis.
Horsham was one of four Victorian towns announced in October for Uber’s latest regional roll-out, with Shepparton, Torquay and Warrnambool also due to receive the service.
An Uber spokeswoman said the exact number of people expected to use the app in Horsham couldn’t be provided.
“In 2018 alone we have seen thousands of app opens across these regional Victorian communities, and we’re excited to now respond to that demand,” she said.

“Uber has a 24/7 customer support centre which is available for both riders and driver-partners. Uber users can easily access the 'Help' section through the app and follow the prompts to the required area of support.”

She also said Uber drivers were independent contractors and were not required to keep child restraints in their cars, however some did.
“Once you've requested an Uber ride, you can always contact the driver in advance through the app to check,” she said.
Although Uber Eats hasn’t been announced for Horsham, the spokeswoman said the company was “always assessing” location options for the service.
