Alexander, 25, etched her name into the history books in the opening term, kicking the first goal of the third AFLW season just five minutes into the match.
Alexander took a strong contested mark in front off two Cats defenders 45 metres out from goal. She launched a kick towards the goal line where it was shepherded through for six points.
In the first half of the match Alexander provided a dangerous target for the Magpies, creating chances and kicking one goal and two behinds.
But Alexander’s night was cut short when she was concussed in a marking contest at the beginning of the third quarter.
Teammate Sharni Layton was coming back with the flight of the ball and caught Alexander with an errant shoulder, sending her hurtling into the turf.
Alexander was stretchered off the ground and did not return for the remainder of the match.
Alexander was in good spirits the following day but was unable to comment as she continues to recover from the concussion.
The Magpies would go on to lose the match by just one point in a thrilling contest, 3.6 (24) to 3.5 (23).
Despite the premature end to her night, it was an exciting moment for Alexander who was promoted from the VFLW to Collingwood’s AFLW list in October 2018.
