Venue manager Shana Miatke said Saturday’s performance of The Sapphires was cancelled “due to serious safety concerns of set movements.”
“The show features a large truck as part of the performance, which requires a large stage crew to be moved, she said.
“Two stage crew failed to come to Horsham, meaning there weren’t sufficient personnel to make the set changes. The company (HIT productions) failed to notify us about this until 10 minutes before the performance.”
Ms Miatke and HIT’s managing director Christine Harris have both apologised.
Ms Miatke thanked people who attended on Saturday night for the understanding and support they had shown since.
“We have been getting cards of encouragement and chocolates from people saying they think we handled the situation professionally,” she said.
“Staff were visibly distressed.
“Ticket holders will be provided a full refund on all ticket purchases. We have been working across Sunday and today to contact each of them.”
The town hall’s management said it was seeking to reschedule the show for later this year or early in 2020.
Ms Miatke said people should contact the Box Office on 5382 9555 or visit at 71 Pynsent Street for more information.
