The event run by the Murtoa Events committee will be held at the Murtoa Stick Shed on March 30 from 6.30pm.
The fine dining experience will include a five course menu created by four professional chefs, with each course matched with a wine from the Grampians and Pyrenees regions.
Tickets went on sale for the event on Monday at 9am. By 9.10am they were sold out.
Murtoa Events committee member Mikaela Reading said the committee was thrilled with the interest in the event.
“There will be 200 people attending the event and there were about 150 tickets for sale to the public. The rest of the tickets will go to our sponsors and committee members,” she said.
“It’s very exciting. There was a lot of interest in the event leading up to the tickets going on sale. We had no idea that it would sell out that quickly though.”
The four professional chefs have been announced. Melbourne-based chefs Lauren Eldridge, Nicky Reimer and Rosa Mitchell will prepare food, alongside Laharum’s Deirdre Baum.
“Deirdre was one of the key people in championing the event and was a part of planning processes a few years back,” Ms Reading said.
Food writers Richard Cornish and Max Allen have been announced as two of the distinguished guests of the event.
Murtoa Events is an offshoot of the Murtoa Progress Association and comprises of young residents with big ideas about how to put Murtoa on the map. The committee of five has been working together with a number of helpers to plan the unique experience.
Any profits made will be used to fund future events or will be reinvested into the community. More information is available at the Facebook page @murtoawineanddine.
