The inaugural event was designed to raise the spirits of drought-affected farmers, and organiser Dale Maggs said it had since outgrown this brief to become a showcase for the region.
“We’re now having entrants coming for multiple years running from Mildura and Wodonga, and I’ve had a call from a regular down in Portland who’s bringing up a new car this year,” Mr Maggs said.
The 2018 show and shine featured 60 bikes and 150 cars.
Mr Maggs said this year’s event will have some different aspects.
“We have the first ever Minyip billy cart race which we hope to have children enter," he said.
"There will be some time trials and they will also have the chance to win nine different trophies.”
Mr Maggs said there would also be market stalls, buskers, jumping castles and face painting to appeal to families, while money raised at the event would again be donated to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
“But also this year as a special show of appreciation, we’re donating to the Minyip Progress Association, who are in the process of rebuilding Emma’s Cafe after it was attacked by white ants two years ago,” he said.
The event will once again be supported by Freedom Riders Australia, a nationwide collective of motorcycle owners who support raise awareness for charitable causes including for motor-neuron disease, people with disability and homelessness support groups.
