Dimboola has continued to add to its already impressive list of recruits for the upcoming Wimmera Football League season, with former NEAFL star Matthew Rosier committing to the club for 2019.

Rosier joins via his connection with Roos’ co-coach Justin Beugelaar. The duo played alongside each other for four seasons with the Northern Territory Thunder from 2013-2017, and both were named in the Thunder’s team of the decade in 2018.
Rosier played 128 games for the Thunder, was co-club champion in 2016 and finished runners-up in the Grogan Medal for the league’s best and fairest in 2012.

Beugelaar was incredibly excited to have Rosier commit to the club.
“(Rosier) will absolutely sure up our midfield – he plays hard and is an absolute tackling machine, it’s very exciting to have him on board,” Beugelaar said.
“I’d say we would arguably have one of the best midfields in the competition with him in the team.”
Beugelaar said Rosier was looking forward to a change in scenary and playing football in a different part of the country.
“He’ll be living with me when he comes down so it was about making sure that decision sits well with him,” Beugelaar said.
“Me and him we are in a pretty similar boat, we’re both pretty much the same age, we’ve spent our time at the Thunder and now he wants to try something new.
“Getting him to a great club will get a lot of people around really excited. It’s an exciting build-up to the season for us.”
In addition to Rosier, brothers Ashley and Thomas Clugston have rejoined Dimboola after several seasons in the Horsham District league with Jeparit-Rainbow.
Ash kicked 37 goals for the Storm last season and will provide a key position target up forward for Dimboola, while Tom will add to the side’s key defensive stocks.
Ben Miller, Sam Godden, Fraser Jennings and Timothy Mosquito are the several other high-profile recruits who have already committed to the club earlier in the off-season.
Beugelaar said with a number of new signings he hoped the side could vastly improve this season.
“We’re hoping for a stronger 2019, we really want to get some excitement around the club and get a few more wins on the board this season,” he said.
“By all accounts training has been at a really high standard and we’ve got really good numbers.”
