Horsham City had narrow wins on three of the rinks, but this was offset by an 11 shot win by Kevin Cramer, Geoff Bald, Arch Besselaar and Bill Kemp (s). With one live end to play, Coughlin Park was up by three shots. City was holding match until Coughlin Park changed the head for a two-shot win to seal the match.
Dimboola claimed the other Preliminary final spot with a one-shot win over Sunnyside 1. Judith Albrecht, Reinhard Danisch, Greg Cook and Peter O'Loughlin (s) won by 14 shots, which was matched by a 17 shot win for Sunnyside by Stuart Cowan, John Ackland, David Uebergang and Ash Batchelor (s). Dimboola was up by 3 shots with one end to play. Sunnyside got two shots on the last end to fall just short of tying the game up.
In Division 2, Sunnyside 2 claimed the first spot in the final by defeating Coughlin Park 2 by 14 shots. One rink win and draw was enough for Sunnyside due to a 35-16 win by Ross Barnett, Murray Heard, Jill Coutts and Dick Hood (s).
Natimuk will play Coughlin Park next week after winning all four rinks over Nhill 2. Nati took full advantage of its home final to win by 29 shots.
Coughlin Park 3 defeated Dimboola 2 by 6 shots in Division 3 mainly due to a 17 shot win by Bill Phelan, Graeme Scobie, Rob Keating and Ray Anderson (s). Nhill 3 will play Dimboola 2 in the preliminary final after a 12 shot win over Horsham Golf 2. The Nhill side won all three rinks.
In Midweek Pennant, Horsham City 1 claimed a final spot against Sunnyside 1 by beating Dimboola by 36 shots. All three rinks had good wins on the day. A 26-13 win by Max Leyonhlelm, Josi Leyonhlelm, Geoff Inglis and Betty Cozens (s) was the biggest of the wins.
In Division 2, Natimuk got past Serviceton by 4 shots to get a final berth against Horsham City 2. Both sides won a rink each, with Lisa Uebergang, Gary Barbary, Graham McClure, Lucille Pekin (s), winning by 18 shots to offset a 14 shot win by Servi.
The Midweek Pennant grand final will be at Coughlin Park on Monday.
Champion of Champion Singles kicked off on Sunday. The semi-finals and finals will be at Coughlin Park next Sunday. Geoff Lowe and Jeff Meyer will play one semi, Kevin Smith and Geoff Gazelle will be in the other. Betty Cozens and Judith Albrecht will play along with Sue Lyttle and Janet Kuchel in the Ladies.
