The Horsham woman, who the Mail-Times has not identified due to privacy reasons, appeared at Horsham Magistrates' Court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to two family violence related charges.
The court heard the victims were the woman's three children, all aged under 14.
Police prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Kass Myers said the incident occurred on November 25 at a Wimmera town.
"The victims were fake fighting, hitting the wall and yelling at each other in a bedroom. The accused tried to intervene," Leading Senior Constable Myers said.
"The accused grabbed victim one, threw him on the mattress and punched him in the face, causing no visible injury. She then punched victim two, which caused swelling and a cut to his lip. Victim three was a witness to the incident.
"Victims one and two left the room, and the accused threw a motorcycle helmet at them, hitting victim two. Other objects were also thrown at victim one. Victims one and two fled the house, and the accused got in her car with victim three to follow them.
"Victims one and two jumped a fence as they were afraid the accused would hit them with her car. They walked two kilometres to a nearby hotel and called the police."
The court heard all three children were taken to Horsham Police Station.
"Each victim corroborated what had happened," Leading Senior Constable Myers said.
"The accused attended Horsham Police Station and made admissions to punching the boys in the face, but said it was in an attempt to separate them."
A child protection order was served and the children were removed from the woman's care.
The court heard the woman was studying, and had taken family violence counselling, and drug and alcohol counselling.
Magistrate Noreen Toohey said she was pleased to see self-improving behaviour.
"There's nothing more this woman could do now to show that she has taken steps to change her behaviour," she said.
Ms Toohey placed the woman on a good behaviour bond and released her on an adjourned undertaking for 12 months.
